Increasing root penetration of root balls in pots

Resilient plants have strong roots

Multikraft technology results in a massive increase in root penetration of the root balls of poinsettias and protects the plants from root rot.

Both the growing medium and the plant strengthener have an impact on the growth of plants. In a study carried out by the Bavarian State Research Centre for Agriculture (Institute for Plant Protection), the effects of Multikraft plant strengthening technology  were tested in combination with different growing media. The effects of the plant strengthener with Multikraft technology and of different growing media were tested.

The trial

Twelve plants of the variety Euphorbia pulcherimma “Merlot” were planted in each of the substrates Floradur, black soil and Höfter and the root and plant growth was evaluated. The test was repeated four times for each group.

Plant strengthener test group:

First watering after potting:

  • 0.4% MK Soil
  • 0.2% Terrafert Soil
  • 0.1% ceramic powder

Regular watering:

  • 0.05% MK Soil
  • 0.005% Terrafert Soil

Weekly spraying of the plants:

  • 2% MK Leaf
  • 1% Terrafert Leaf, later at the end of the growing period 3%
  • 0.5% MK 5
  • 0.5% FPE (Fermented Plant Extract)
  • 0.05% ceramic powder
  • 0.05% whey powder

Results

The comparison of root penetration across the growing media showed that the plants treated with Multikraft technology had significantly more roots. A reduction in root browning was also seen across the growing media.
