Overcoming the challenges of pig keeping

Alongside optimum feed conversion and increasing the appetite and health of the pigs, the high concentration of ammonia in pig housing often presents a challenge and a problem for people and pigs.

The long-term use of Multikraft FHE (Fermented Herb Extract) is a solution to these challenges.

Reducing ammonia from pig fattening

The use of MK Soil and the FHE (Fermented Herb Extract) feed supplement for fattening pigs reduces the climate gases methane, ammonia and nitrous oxide by 35 per cent on average in pig pens with sloping floors. At the same time, Multikraft technology minimises total organic carbon (TOC) emissions by an impressive 78 per cent.

The importance of feed in pig keeping

There are many good reasons for making use of the benefits of the probiotic feed additive FHE in pig keeping.

  • The microorganisms in FHE provide probiotic support for the microbiome in the digestive tract and strengthen the immune system of the pigs. In addition, FHE promotes feed conversion and reduces the number of pathogenic bacteria in the excrement. The addition of FHE in the feed reduces the emissions from stored agricultural fertiliser and has a positive impact on the quality of the slurry.
  • Spraying FHE in the pig housing is a very simple way of creating a healthy indoor atmosphere, as all the surfaces are populated with probiotic microorganisms that inhibit the development of pathogens and prevent infections. By regularly spraying FHE, you can create an indoor environment where rot is inhibited, unpleasant odours are neutralised and the number of flies is reduced.
  • Healthy animals, a pleasant indoor atmosphere and high-quality agricultural fertiliser are just some of the benefits of using FHE in pig keeping.

Fermented Herb Extract (FHE)

FHE is made from carefully selected organic herbs, natural multimicrobial preparations and organic sugar cane molasses using a gentle fermentation process.

It is added to the pigs’ feed and is suitable for piglets, breeding sows and porkers. In the slurry, FHE binds ammonia, reduces rot bacteria and promotes nutrients.
