Whether sunny or shady, sandy or loamy - the right location is essential for every plant. Some like to be sheltered, others are true free-loaders. The more these needs are met, the stronger and healthier your protégés will grow.
Robust vegetable varieties show greater tolerance to diseases and pests. Old vegetable varieties often offer advantages over newer varieties, but there are also hardy varieties within newer varieties. When buying seeds, it is therefore crucial to look carefully; many varieties are labelled as "robust", regardless of whether they are old or new.
The right partners in the bed can protect each other from diseases and pests. Combine plants that have a positive effect on each other. Tomatoes and basil, for example, not only go well together on the plate, but also in the garden.
Organic fertilisers gently supply your vegetable plants with all the nutrients they need. Nitrogen promotes their growth, phosphorus is an energy source and promotes root growth, potassium makes plants resistant to environmental influences. Thanks to an optimal long-term supply, there is no deficiency and the plant is resistant to external influences such as mildew or aphids.
Treat yourself and your garden to a wild corner where nettles, for example, can grow and flourish as they please. Butterflies, ladybirds and other beneficial insects will enjoy this as much as you do. It doesn't always have to be an English lawn either. Allow flowers and grasses to bloom and go to seed (at least in places) to increase biodiversity in the garden.

When we dream up visions, we discover completely new facets and possibilities. They give us the strength to abandon established and proven habits. Even seemingly absurd fantasies about the future motivate us and help us to create new guidelines and behaviours, even though they seem to completely contradict the current zeitgeist.
